In order to choose the most suitable outdoor floodlight, it is important to know the needs of our project. Based on these needs we can choose a certain colour temperature, power, waterproofing, resistance, installation system, etc.
Colour temperature
Professional floodlights for outdoor lighting mostly emit white light in a wide range of colour temperatures. Depending on the ambience we want to create we will choose light with a warm white colour temperature of 3000 K or lower, neutral white between 3500 K - 5000 K and cool white of 5500 K or higher.
Colour rendering index (CRI)
Another aspect to take into account is the reliability with which an outdoor floodlight is able to reproduce the colours of objects compared to natural light. This index ranges from 0 to 100. The closer the colour rendering index is to 100, the more faithfully the luminaire will render the original colours.
Luminous flux
Depending on the amount of light we need, we will choose a projector with a higher or lower power. For simple domestic applications we can use basic projectors of up to 8,000 lumens, while for large professional applications we will need devices of between 20,000 and 60,000 lumens.
